Christmas for Grown Ups: Festive Events in Brighton

22 November 2019 | Maisy Farren

Not been excited for Christmas since you were a teenager? Well reclaim that festive cheer here in Brighton as Christmas isn’t just for kids! After all, what’s December if not a month full of drinking, eating and then enjoying a week off work? Check out our round-up of best adults-only Xmas activities for December 2019!

A Christmas Carol Immersive Dining Experience
The Windmill, 69 Upper North Street, Brighton, BN1 3FL

Forget about your annual pantomime trip and instead enjoy dinner and a show. Here at The Windmill you can enjoy a totally unforgettable A Christmas Carol experience, transporting you right back to Victorian Britain and into the sad tale of Ebeneezer Scrooge! An interactive show with theatre, music and games is laid out alongside a feast fit for Tiny Tim. Prepared by Masterchef winner Natalie Coleman, the two-course dinner will impress even the Scrooges in your friendship group. This experience is strictly 16+ (16- and 17-year olds welcome with 18+ accompaniment), and the bar will no doubt be well stocked with festive favourites to see you through the night. After all, you’re going to need a glass or two of mulled wine to get through parlour games with strangers this festive season!

This event takes place 3 – 29 December 2019 (no show on 25 or 26 December). Tickets cost £59 and can be purchased here

Bingo Lingo: Xmas Edition
Pryzm, West Street, Brighton, BN1 2RE

Bingo has claimed its place as one of the most surprising night out choices of 2019, but as we can see it’s an ever-popular choice in nearby London! Brighton’s regular Bingo night, Bingo Lingo, is a far cry from Saturday evenings at a church hall. Featuring confetti cannons, fast paced games, amazing prizes, awful prizes, dance-offs and twerking competitions – nothing is too much at Bingo Lingo. Enjoy all of this with the festive addition of Christmas this December, heading down for Bingo Lingo: Xmas Edition. Your ticket will include entry to the party, a bubbly drinks reception, festive food, drinks tokens to see you through the evening and access to the late night after-party. Don’t be surprised to find yourself heading home with a pair of novelty reindeer antlers and a chaotic Instagram story – it’s going to be a big night.

This event takes place 12 December 2019. Tickets cost £30 and can be booked here

Ghost Stories for Christmas
The Lantern Theatre, 8-10 Rock Place, Brighton, BN2 1PF

The historic tradition of telling spooky stories around the fire at Yuletide lives on here in Brighton, where Ghost Stories for Christmas are in their seventh year of successful shows! Raising money for the charity Clock Tower Sanctuary, this hair-raising festive event will certainly bridge the gap between Halloween and Xmas. Keep an eye out for macabre sights, festive spectres and ghostly Victorian children on your route home – this one’s sure to go bump in the night! The recommended age for this event is 12+, so whilst this night out might not be strictly child free it’ll certainly be chance to sit down with a hot toddy or two.
