Bristol’s Best Florists and Floristry for Valentine’s Day

Maisy Farren

Don’t make do with a petrol station bunch of flowers this V-day. Bristol boasts plenty of independent florists and places to visit for floristry masterclasses - the perfect date night or a thoughtful gift.

Support local florists and order an expertly curated bunch of flowers from the wonderful Roots Floral Design this February. A small team of florists who certainly know their Paeonia from their Petunias, visit them in store to order a beautiful bunch for that special someone. If you don’t have time to nip into their shop (or if you, ahem, forgot) then they offer online orders and Bristol same day delivery. Bouquet’s range from a respectable £30 to a lavish £70, and you can also order cacti or plants. Those who prefer a more DIY gift will adore one of their bouquet workshops, with more information available here.

How do you make a good date a great one? Add cocktails, of course! The Florist is a flora themed restaurant and bar with a delicious food menu and fabulously floral and fruity cocktails. The pretty decor will be a treat for any flower lover, and naturally make a stunning Instagram post. You can get involved with flower arranging masterclasses here at The Florist, as well as trying your hand at a gin or cocktail masterclass with a larger group of friends! Group date night anyone?

If you’ve attended any wedding in the Bristol, chances are the beautiful arrangements came curtesy of The Flower Shop. Nothing says romance quite like a bunch of white roses, so be sure to turn up to your date well prepared on the 14thof Feb. Nip into their shop on Gloucester Road and organise a hand-made, wonderfully arranged flowers filled with your beau’s favourites. Give it a couple of years and they might be arranging flowers for your wedding – now wouldn’t that be romantic!

If your partner favours organic and locally sourced produce, head to Organic Blooms to buy a guilt-free bunch of flowers and support a local Social Enterprise! Promising to be free of artificial chemicals and always organically grown, Organic Blooms grow in season, British flowers all year around, constantly considering the soil and wildlife in which they grow. Naturally, the flowers they offer changes on a regular basis, so we recommend taking a trip to their farm to select your own. They also offer an abundance of workshops including Create your own Hand Tied Bouquet – an excellent gift for any flower fan.

Edith Wilmot
5 Carlton Court, Canford Lane, Bristol, BS9 3DE

It’s unfair to mention Bristol’s florists without mentioning Bristol’s longest running flower shop. Edith Wilmot have been offering the city beautiful floral displays since the late 19thcentury and has remained in the same Westbury-on-Trym spot this entire time! Their team are professionally trained to offer the best of bouquets, and whilst you can order online you are encouraged to pop in and let the team guide you in your choice. Ticking plenty of boxes, they also offer balloons, teddies, alcohol and other gifts… although, turning up to your Valentines Date with a fruit basket is unadvisable
