Local Restaurants To Support In Hackney By Ordering Takeout

25 March 2020 | Billie Manning

Many independent restaurants in Hackney are having to be very reactive very quickly to the constantly changing restrictions we are currently under, and of course, many are struggling. Support a local small business and get a super tasty meal at the same time by ordering takeout and/or delivery from these eateries.

Open from 12pm till 9pm today in both restaurants for Mother’s Day deliveries. Then we’ll be closed for 2 days to restock and recharge after a bit of a hectic week! Here’s a long awaited pic of our delivery riders (I’ve been trying to get one since Tuesday!). Big love to all our staff who have been absolute troopers through this shit storm of a week. Taking what twists and turns life throws at them and still got a smile to give out! Most are here in London without family, far from home and are currently at the mercy of landlords and government decisions. We massively appreciate you all and let’s hope we all manage to get through together!

My Neighbours The Dumplings
We've been big fans of My Neighbours The Dumplings for a while, so we're glad not to be forced to miss out on their delicious dishes while self-isolating. They're serving a reduced menu, but there's still loads to choose from. Just give them a ring – they have two locations in Clapton and Victoria Park, and delivery costs £3 per mile, so the closer a neighbour you are, the better.

UPDATE: The new Dalston opening hours will be 9-12 only. Bread, pastry, and possibly filter coffee, provided people are behaving responsibly and not milling about. We are doing our best to interpret the gov guidance and are currently of the opinion that daily bread is an essential grocery item. Tomorrow afternoon we plan to release details of our new online ordering and home delivery scheme. The first deliveries will go out on Monday unless we are told otherwise. We believe that by making available a home delivery system for nourishing healthy food, we are playing an important role in bolstering the food supply and keeping you lovely lot at home. We send solidarity to those working overtime, on sub-living wage, in supermarket contracts who’re taking abuse in the shopping aisles ! Today’s excess food went to the Royal London Hospital staff in Whitechapel. Keep your eyes peeled for further updates and a special shout out to our team for bearing with us during this time of fear and anxiety. If you live in South London hit up @tomekmoss he’s getting DK bread down that way. Big love Team DK

Dusty Knuckle
We drool over Dusty Knuckle's sandwiches at the best of times, and now you can get them IN YOUR HOME? Knock us down with a feather – maybe there are some bright sides to social distancing. You can also order their pastries, sweets, snacks and bread, as well as getting cold items and coffee to take away from their Dalston location. The DK team is determined to keep all their staff in paid work – help them make that a reality, and get a tasty lunch, too. Keep checking their Instagram for more info.

Black Cat Café
Black Cat is a vegan favourite, known for their bright, well-portioned salads and soul-warming soups. The volunteer-run café is cheap as chips and has a menu that covers much more than just that, and they are open 12-3 for deliveries and 12-8 for takeaway. Their Instagram is the best place to stay updated on the details of how to order during the shutdown.

Jones and Sons
We always knew Jones and Sons were a class act – and they've proven it with their new delivery service Jones At Home which is ensuring East Londoners get their Sunday lunch fix, from Welsh lamb to spinach and ricotta wellington, all served up with mouthwatering roasties and all the trimmings. Simply place your orders through catering@jonesandsonsdalston.com (pre-orders preferred) and wait for your meal to arrive. The restaurant is also catering for dinners Wednesday – Saturday evenings.
