Mother’s Day 2016 in Manchester and beyond

3 March 2016 | London Calling

Are you looking for a way to treat your mum this Sunday? The Go See This Team have it covered for you, with a whole host of cultural events taking place:

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a delicious afternoon tea in the beautiful surroundings of Quarry Bank Mill. Whilst you are there, make sure that you visit the new exhibition Unearthed, which explores how people, past and present, have influenced the gardens.

Over at The Royal Exchange Theatre, there is the opportunity to hear from one of the UK’s best loved award-winning actors, Don Warrington, who will be taking a break from rehearsing King Lear to talk to Royal Exchange Associate Artistic Director, Matthew Xia.

If you still need to pick up a present, Manchester Craft and Design Centre have put together a handy guide with a range of unique gifts, cards and wrapping paper.  The centre will also be open this Sunday and is an ideal place for lunch in their Oak St. Cafe Bar, (mums get free cake!) and make sure that you take time to explore their exhibition,  Behind Closed Doors: Ceramics by Verity Howard.

If you would prefer to get stuck in and try your hand at something creative, there will be a Brush Works Masterclass taking place at Foundation Coffee. By the end of the class, you will be well equipped to carry on your brush calligraphy and painting practice!

Over in Salford Quays, there is a free glass of prosecco for all mums dining in The Lowry restaurant.  Whilst you are at The Lowry, there are still tickets available for Brian Conley: Alive and Dangerous for an extra mothers day treat!
