Top 5 Cocktail Bars in Leeds

London Calling

Now then, Leeds. The West Yorkshire city is beloved by locals, tourists and students, and with a rich supply of music, sport and shopping it’s easy to see why. If Manchester is London’s little sister, then Leeds is it’s aloof, effortlessly cool cousin. Small in size but big in culture, the City Centre offers a plethora of music venues, museums, galleries and an incredible nightlife all within a 45 minute walk. Today though, we’re bringing the best of booze with our top places to grab a cocktail.

1. Jake’s Bar

Chances are that if you’ve been on a night out in Leeds, you will have encountered the city’s much raved about Call Lane and explored its impressive range of drinking establishments. Jake’s Bar sits at the heart of this bustling street and is a Call Lane institution through and through. Sure, the stylish bartenders can whip up a mean martini, but don’t be afraid to go off-menu and ask for recommendations – these guys know their booze.

Jake’s Bar is located at 29 Call Lane, Leeds, LS1 7BT.

 2. The Alchemist

A newish addition to Leeds, The Alchemist joined the city’s nightlife in 2013, providing cocktail therapy for stressed out shoppers. They’ve become a staple of the Leeds nightlife thanks to their experimental and jaw-dropping cocktail menu (Bubblebath cocktail, anyone…?). There are two venues for you to choose from, however we’d always pluck for the one located in the Trinity Shopping Centre for those Instagram-worthy views of the Leeds skyline.

The Alchemist can be found at Trinity Leeds, LS1 6HW & Yorkshire House, Greek Street, Leeds, LS1 5SH.

3. The Botanist

Once you’re done sipping cocktails on Trinity’s rooftop, head on down to the shopping centre’s ground floor to sample the equally delicious offerings from The Botanist. With a greenhouse-chic vibe, the décor takes inspiration from the great outdoors, mixing earthy hues with plant pots, garden tools and wooden benches. The cocktail menu follows suit, with floral concoctions such as Blackberry & Rosemary Fizz, Peach & Lavendar Martinis and the Lemon Balm Tini. Blissful.

The Botanist is located at Trinity Leeds, 67 Boar Lane, Leeds, LS1 6HW.

4. Distrikt

Tucked away in an alley and down a flight of stairs, Distrikt is quite literally a hidden gem. However, if you do manage to seek it out you will be rewarded with some of Leeds’ finest cocktails. The bar is decked out like a super suave VIP club, but don’t let that put you off – the prices are actually quite reasonable and they run some great offers throughout the week. Their menu also has some of the best tapas on offer, the perfect accompaniment to your Devil’s Manhattan.

Distrikt can be found at 7 Duncan Street, Leeds, LS1 6DQ.

5. Ten Bar

The latest addition to the Leeds bar scene and the final spot in our list is Ten Bar. Exposed brickwork, original features and quirky artwork give the bar a cool, laid back edge spread across two floors. The ‘ten’ theme runs throughout: you can choose from ten vodkas, ten gins, ten rums and ten perfectly crafted cocktails. It’s a ten from us.

Ten Bar is located at  10 Duncan Street, Leeds, LS1 6DL.
