Valentine’s Day at Home: Manchester Takeaways

Order a feast to show your love for your partner (or yourself) this Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day for many usually involves a fancy meal out at your favourite restaurant, or even somewhere new, and maybe a few drinks to follow. Whether you’re celebrating with your significant other, housemates, or just want to treat yourself this year, here’s a round-up of restaurants offering delivery or collection across Manchester for a romantic feast (let’s face it, in front of the TV).

Sugo Pasta Kitchen
46 Blossom Street, Manchester, M4 6BF
22 Shaw’s Road, Altrincham, WA14 1QU

Sugo is the creative, contemporary restaurant making Italian food exciting again. Now accepting orders from both its Ancoats and Altrincham restaurants to collect or deliver via Deliveroo, it’s the perfect option for pasta-lovers from every corner of Manchester. For starters, why not share the Bruschetta Pugliese – a slice of local toasted sourdough piled high with fava bean puree, crispy onions and wild broccoli. Their limited but mouth-watering mains range from a beef shin, pork shoulder and spicy nduja ragu, to a silky San Marzano pomodoro topped with burrata.

Rosa’s Thai Café
184 Deansgate, The Old Courthouse, Manchester, M3 3WB
Created by a husband-wife team, Rosa’s Thai Café has grown from a food stall to a national hotspot for Far East food with a twist. Couples with differing tastes can take their pick from a wide range of noodle dishes, curries and stir-fries, with a great range of soups and appetisers to get your tastebuds tingling. From takeaway classics like crispy spring rolls and pad Thai, to new flavour experiences like fiery Drunken Noodles or sweetcorn patties. The team at Rosa’s aren’t afraid to share their secrets either, with a selection of recipes online, as well as ‘Rosa’s Thai tips’ and a meal planner.

Zouk Tea Bar
5 The Quadrangle, Chester Street, Manchester, M1 5QS
Offering a blend of Indian and Pakistani dishes, Zouk is a favourite for curry fanatics across Manchester. Offering vegetarian and vegan options as well as meat-eaters’ favourites, snack on Zouk’s Crispy Okra Chips before digging in to a traditional Pakistani Karahi or Punjabi Handi. If all of that doesn’t take your fancy, their seafood menu, vegetarian alternatives or gourmet Shawarmas are sure to offer something for everyone. We also suggest a Naan each – they’re too good to share.

Double Zero Neapolitan Pizza
368 Barlow Moor Road, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester, M21 8AZ
The chewy, fermented pizza dough of Double Zero in Chorlton is famous around Manchester (also for its usual B.Y.O.B. policy in the restaurant). Cooked for less than 90 seconds in a wood-fired oven, perfect pizza can be yours to collect from the restaurant or delivered in a matter of minutes. To create the perfect date night, share an Antipasti selection before taking your pick from their huge selection of sourdough pizzas, topped with quality Italian ingredients. If you want to add a little heat, you may dare to add their chilli oil (which guests are often warned about when dining in).

Bar San Juan
56 Beech Road, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester, M21 9EG
This quaint, traditional tapas bar on a corner of Beech Road often gets booked up fast – but just a matter of days ago the restaurant began accepting deliveries and pick-ups through Deliveroo, and now it couldn’t be easier to enjoy the experience of authentic Spanish cuisine in Manchester. Pour a glass of sangria and pass round a selection of traditional tapas like fresh bread with ali-oli, patatas bravas, paella, or hot chilli and garlic prawns.
