Where to Eat: Pizza in Manchester

26 July 2019 | Kate Plummer

Spotlight on: Double Zero
368 Barlow Moor Road, Chorlton, M21 8AZ

Taking its name from the ‘00’ milled Italian flour known as the absolute champ of flours when it comes to creating the perfect pizza dough, Double Zero prides itself on its love and skill when creating traditional wood-fired oven baked pizzas that Naples would be proud of.

Softer than its crispy counterparts, and with a deliciously chewy crust, the Neapolitan sourdough pizzas of Double Zero are all made to order with a selection of fresh toppings to choose from. Pizza purists should sample the Margherita or classic Napoli with white anchovies, capes and olives, whilst the Double Zero specials including the sausage, peppers and balsamic onion joy that is the Siciliana and the Rustica involving aubergine, sundried tomato, artichoke and scamorza (that’s a South Italian cow’s milk cheese to you and me) are the ones melting our hearts quicker than said scamorza melts in that wood oven.

With the added bonus of some hearty calzones and the option to create your own “ultimate pizza”, it’s no surprise that this Chorlton restaurant is always buzzing with customers in need of a slice, or ten. Plus, thanks to the BYOB nature of the restaurant, you can keep the cost down by bringing along your bottle of choice to enjoy, meaning the only dough you need to be worrying about is the one you’re about to eat.
