Upcoming orchestral concerts

Cadogan Hall is delighted to welcome back the world-class Symphony Orchestra of India for two concerts as part of our Zurich International Orchestra Series with programmes ranging from Star Wars and Zakir Hussain to Brahms and Wagner.

Thursday 30 November, 7.30pm

Strauss, Hussain & Stravinsky

The brilliant young British conductor of Indian descent Alpesh Chauhan conducts the first of two concerts by this world-class orchestra featuring a suite of orchestral music from Richard Strauss’ opulent opera and a 20th-century masterpiece by Stravinsky. Perhaps the greatest musician in the Indian classical tradition, tabla player Zakir Hussain, together with Niladri Kumar and Rakesh Chaurasia, joins them to perform his work commissioned specially for this tour, his exciting Triple Concerto.

Friday 8 December, 7.30pm

John Williams to Wagner

One of John Williams' best-known works opens the programme before the acclaimed young pianist Pavel Kolsenikov performs Brahms masterful, virtuosic Second Piano Concerto. The second half features a specially arranged suite constructed by Andrew Gourlay featuring the profound and emotive music from Wagner's last, great opera, Parsifal.

Cadogan Hall’s Resident Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic, performs two concerts in November, one featuring Brahms' moving German Requiem with the City of London Choir, Wednesday 22 November and the other Sibelius' wildly romantic Violin Concerto with superstar violinist Francesca Dego, Friday 24 November.

In December there are Christmas concerts including the classic animation The Snowman, Sunday 17 December, with the soundtrack performed live by the Mozart Symphony Orchestra and two concerts by London ConcertanteChristmas at the Movies, Wednesday 27 December and the much-loved Viennese Christmas Spectacular, Friday 29 December.
