The opening concert of our new season features two Classical masterpieces and Bartók's lyrical Third Piano Concerto performed by the much-lauded French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard.

Renowned for her interpretations of Bach, acclaimed pianist Angela Hewitt play-directs the composer's dark-hued keyboard concerto as well as Mozart's Concerto No. 14, full of dramatic energy.
The concert also features Vaughan WIlliams' much-loved, hauntingly beautiful Tallis Fantasia and Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony, the orchestration of his searing String Quartet No. 8 which also features the musical motif of his name: D‑S‑C‑H.
