A tale of sibling allyship and how far we are willing to go to protect each other

Visually impaired and neurodivergent actor, writer and creative access director, Alice Christina-Corrigan, is proud to present FADE, commissioned by The Lowry as part of the ‘Developed With’ programme. FADE explores sibling-allyship and integrates projections, original sound design, movement and creative captioning.

Following the sudden death of their mother, estranged siblings Cassie and Rubin are reunited in their family home. As they begin packing up furniture and keepsakes, they start unpacking their life, relationships and truth. Falling in and out of memories, transcending past, present and a not-so-distant future with four actors portraying the twins at different stages of life - FADE is a tale of sibling allyship, and how far we are willing to go to protect each other.

FADE will feature Lauren-Nicole Mayes as Cassie ( Coronation Street, ITV), Matthew Devlin as Rubin ( G'WED, ITV; Little Boy Blue, ITV) Daneka Etchells as 2010 Cassie (The Real and Imagined History of the Elephant Man, Nottingham Playhouse/UK Tour ) and Stefan Race as 2010 Rubin (G'WED, ITVX; Eric, Netflix; Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Warner Bros).

Created by a disabled-led team, Christina-Corrigan has focused on securing disability representation throughout all aspects of FADE, with access being embedded into every decision throughout the creative process. The final production integrates projections and creative captioning, demonstrating the new and vibrant ways of exploring creative access that Christina-Corrigan has previously found success with in 2023 production Past Lives.

Alongside the production, Creative Access Ways and The Lowry will be hosting a Creative Access Insight Day on 27 March to share practice and instigate industry wide change as to how we structure processes for artist and integrate creatively accessible tools within rehearsal processes to create work that is rich, multi-sensory and accessible to a much broader range of audiences. FADE will then tour to Leeds Playhouse for three performances.
