Manchester International Festival (MIF) is back with collaborations from some of the most exciting creative minds of our generation – blurring artforms, pushing boundaries and addressing the big questions of our time. And more than that, creating hope for the future. The festival will take place in venues and spaces throughout the city and at Factory International’s much-anticipated new home, which opens its doors for the first time, in advance of its official opening in October.
The wide-ranging programme of original new work presented at the Festival includes new work from artists including Ryan Gander, Maxine Peake, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Tino Sehgal and Juan Mata and music from Janelle Monáe, John Grant, Angélique Kidjo and more.
One of the world’s most loved artists takes us up and away as part of Factory International’s opening summer programme.Yayoi Kusama is bringing her largest-ever immersive environment to Manchester. Conceived especially for the soaring spaces of Factory International, Yayoi Kusama - You, Me and the Balloons celebrates three decades of the pioneering Japanese artist's inflatable artworks, which are brought together for the first time in this exhibition.
Manchester Collective and Slung Low present a vibrant new staging of Benjamin Britten’s community opera, Noah’s Flood featuring Lemn Sissay live as the voice of God and 180 schoolchildren as every bird and beast under the sun.
Sharon Eyal, Gai Behar and record label Young coming together to present a night of dance and music in Manchester’s iconic New Century Hall nightclub with music from club culture icon Ben UFO.
