Season 5, titled Tailor Made, dives deep into the worlds of film and fashion. Each episode tackles a landmark movie that captured a major fashion look of an era and then decodes what that look meant — to the culture that spawned it, the people who wore it, and the audiences who watched it on screen.

From Jean Seberg’s liberating gamine style in Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless (1960) to a two-part exploration of the style threads winding through director Sofia Coppola’s entire career, it’s a walk down a worldwide cinematic runway and a unique angle on the ideas and visual influences that have fueled master filmmakers past and present.

This season features insights from two-time Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter (Black Panther), Do The Right Thing (1989) cinematographer Ernest Dickerson, director Franc Roddam (Quadrophenia), fashion designer Anna Sui, director and documentarian Kevin Macdonald, and Sofia Coppola herself.

Hosted by acclaimed arts and travel reporter Rico Gagliano, the MUBI Podcast is a documentary-style series available on all major podcast platforms and in MUBI’s digital cinema publication Notebook

Recently, MUBI partnered with THE FACE magazine on a special fashion week screening of Priscilla (2023) to promote the new season of the Podcast. Stacy Battat, Priscilla’s costume designer, joined MUBI for a Q&A at Picturehouse Central in London’s West End, where she and journalist Christina Newland unpacked the film’s timeless costume design.
