Remember Nature 2025
An artist-led Day of Action were galleries and cultural institutions come together to stand up for nature.
Remember Nature 2025 , the artist-led Day of Action on Tuesday 4th November, will see 16 arts organisations across the country, including the Tate Modern, Serpentine, Turner Contemporary and the De La Warr Pavillion, work alongside to lead a variety of events that acts as a call to ‘remember nature’ at a time when it needs us most. The project is an ambitious restaging of celebrated artist Gustav Metzger (1926-2017)’s original Remember Nature (2015), and is curated by Andrea Gregson and Jo Joelson, both of whom worked alongside Metzger on the original project 10 years ago.
Highlights Include
Tate Modern, London: Youngsook Choi’s participatory performance, Book of Loss, which will be staged. Taking the form of a search party, the work explores ecological grief, commemorating seven recently lost glaciers while also reflecting on the increasing threat of flooding from the adjacent Thames River.
Serpentine, London: Join artists Patricia Domínguez and Eduardo Navarro for a call to prayer on Serpentine’s online channels, through a digital screening. In Planetary Prayer, Patricia Domínguez and Eduardo Navarro reflect on the relationship between the human body and the planet as an interconnected field of matter and energy.
Turner Contemporary, Margate: An apple orchard planting, designed by Anya Gallaccio. Made up of more than 30 varieties of apples, the work will be a commentary on the homogenisation of food, brought to life in partnership with local primary school children.
De La Warr Pavillion, Bexhill-on-Sea: Artist Nancy Odufona will lead a Community Walk along Bexhill Promenade and the beach. Along the way, each participant will collect a handful of pebbles. In the workshop space, participants will examine their chosen pebbles and create drawings inspired by them. The drawings will be combined to form a collaborative mural. This mural will serve as a visual record of the coastline and the collective experience of the day.
Alongside the Day of Action, each artist has produced a call-to-action film, which will be screened at a special event at Tate Modern, as well as a specially commissioned poster. The Day of Action events will also be live streamed via http://remembernature.art
