Diwali 2022 at National Maritime Museum

November events

A full programme of events for child and adult visitors to the historic Greenwich National Maritime Museum, Queen’s House, and Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre. For Royal Observatory Greenwich. All visitors, including Members, are advised to pre-book their tickets at least 24 hours in advance. 

Highlights this month include:

  • Discover award-winning space photography from the past year in the new Astronomy Photographer of the Year 15 exhibition, daily from 16 September 2023. The winning and shortlisted images will be displayed in an exhibition at the National Maritime Museum, including awe-inspiring scenes of the Milky Way, vibrant star trails racing across the night sky, and amazing auroral activity.
  • Shine Your Light and celebrate the Festival of Light during this year’s Diwali event at the National Maritime Museum. This year the Museum will mark the Festival of Light with a family festival including dance performances, yoga workshops, sari styling and a lantern parade, 11 November. 
  • Take to the ice in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Queen’s House Ice Rink. The magical Queen’s House open-air ice rink is returning to Greenwich this winter, 23 November  – 7 January 2024 (closed on 25 December) 11.00 – 20.00. The rink is surrounded by iconic architecture, with views of Greenwich Park to the south and the glittering lights of Canary Wharf to the north, providing a backdrop of some of the best views in London.
  • Polar Family Day: 25 November 2023 - 11.00 – 16.00. An opportunity to meet polar scientists and discover more about the polar regions.
  • SENsory Sailors: 4 November 2023, 11.00 – 12.30. Families with children with special educational needs and disabilities are invited to a monthly session at the National Maritime Museum and enjoy the opportunity to be creative together, and meet other local families.
  • PRINCE PHILIP MARITIME COLLECTIONS CENTRE: Behind the Scenes Tour-  9, 23 November 2023 - The best way to access RMG’s extended collection and see conservation in action is through behind-the-scenes tours where participants will come face to face with the conservation team and learn first-hand about the objects' voyage from store to display.
