St Katharine Docks Classic Boat Festival

London's annual river festival returns!

The annual celebration of the Thames is back for its 27th year with an all-new look, featuring art installations and exhibitions, performances, walks, talks, boat trips, river races and more. Particularly focusing on sustainability and protecting the environment and ecosystems of the river, Totally Thames 2023 will see a festival hub each weekend in a different London riverside location, all with exciting events and activities. The hubs will rotate between Brentford, The Royal Docks, London Bridge, Greenwich, and Kingston upon Thames.

Highlights Include:

  • Climate Cabaret: a live storytelling lab looking at new ways to discuss climate change.
  • CH20 AT WappART: an immersive AR and hologram event, highlighting the fragility of planet earth. 
  • TIDAL TRACES: is an installation which explores the intermingling of natural and synthetic matter in the river and our relationship with the materials we are producing.
  • River clean-ups: encouraging residents to help protect our city’s natural habitats.
  • Wren by River: a tour and talk on board an Uber Boat by Thames Clippers vessel.
  • RNLI Tower Lifeboat Station: tour this wonderful new lifeboat station near Embankment and learn about the RNLI’s lifesaving work on the River Thames.  
  • Great River Race on 16th September: watch hundreds boats racing along the Thames!
  • The St Katharine Docks Classic Boat Festival: an extravaganza of vintage boats with live music and family activities.
  • Exhibitions and installations: including Ebb and Flow, Creatures of the Kelp, From the Mouth of the Thames and The Crossing.
  • Hands on History: Thames, River of Rubbish, run by modern mudlark Tom Chivers.
  • The Team London Bridge Walking Tour: will highlight the history and significance of the Thames in London’s development today.
