TROLLS OnLINE delivers a cascade of edgy theatrical delights laced with satire and irony. But don’t be frightened, there is poignancy, there is love and there is laughter. It’s a white-knuckle ride of a musical! Wild rock and beautiful ballads intersperse audacious scenes which speak directly of our complex, multi-layered, hazard-strewn modern lives.
Somehow love blossoms. Our hero is a young geek Frank, a computer wizard, who has created software that can help save the planet’s wildlife; our beautiful heroine is an asylum-seeker, GAIA who has been to hell and back. They meet and try to negotiate their way through the pitfalls of social media and the blandishments of 21st century life.
The show is the brainchild of Tim Thomas (“Four Weddings and a Funeral”, ex-RSC). Director is Marcus Fernando has worked with both the RSC and National theatre and has shared Tim’s journey in musicals on a number of occasions.
In a world dominated by juke-box musicals and revivals “TROLLS OnLINE” stands out as a totally original piece and features previously unheard rock, Blues, pop, sea-shanty and barber[1]shop quartet songsThe production will be an amazing vivid marriage of the theatrical and the cinematic.
So the script is written, the songs composed and recorded in demo. We are ready for lift-off!
