An audio-driven journey through a moonlit fever dream

Legends of immersive theatre  Punchdrunk have announced  the world premiere of their new show, Viola’s Room, will be coming to their Woolwich home from May. Following the global successes of hit Punchdrunk shows such as The Burnt City and Sleep No More, Viola’s Room offers a thrilling new experience for Punchdrunk fans and newcomers alike, featuring spellbinding pre-recorded narration from screen legend Helena Bonham Carter.

Barefoot, and wearing headphones, small groups of up to six at a time feel their way through a maze-like installation as an unseen narrator guides them on a sensory journey to reveal a story of innocence lost and obsession unleashed.

Written by Booker Prize-shortlisted Daisy Johnson and conceived by Punchdrunk’s Artistic Director Felix Barrett, Viola’s Room reimagines Barry Pain’s classic gothic mystery The Moon-Slave for a new audience. It distils two decades of Punchdrunk’s immersive practice into an intimate, linear, audio-driven adventure that promises to suffuse the dreams of those who dare to follow the light. The show features pre-recorded narration from Helena Bonham Carter (Harry Potter, The Crown), who guides visitors through the spellbinding experience.

An Entire Time Slot ticket allows you to experience Viola’s Room exclusively with your group (of up to six people). Have the ultimate solo experience or bring up to five friends. One ticket admits up to six people. Entire Time Slot tickets are limited. Tickets from £28.50.

Viola’s Room will open for previews in Woolwich on 14 May, with an official opening on 22 May. It will play an extended season until 18 August.

Viola’s Room: 22 May - 18 August 2024

Venue: One Cartridge Place, Woolwich, London SE18 6ZR.
