Disco Neurotico - at Queen Elizabeth Hall

7 September 2024 Queen Elizabeth Hall

An innovative take on a disco night, catering to the socially anxious and neurodivergent, Disco Neurotico tests the waters by trying to coax the nervous into the great outdoors.

A chillout room, a gaming area, UV art rooms, silent discos, and safe spaces for all, Disco Neurotico is intentionally far from your usual frenetic and crowded club night.

Pioneered by Byron Vincent, a raver who struggles with ADHD, autism, and PTSD, the vision was inspired by his overstimulating experiences at nightclubs. Too many people, too much sound and too loud at that, not enough space, not enough places to chill, too much chaos: club experiences many of us can relate to.

Vincent doesn't only make this for the neurodivergent who struggle with overstimulation and the unpredictableness clubbing, but for those who struggle with these aspects of clubbing in general. The vision is to create a space where one can dance and boogie freely, but also have a bit of downtime when the proverbial hits the fan, or when your legs are a bit knackered, or if you're experiencing sensory overload.

Allowing a safe space for the screen-timers to unwind to music, and unwind from the music when it gets too much, Disco Neurotico is a welcome, fresh addition to the London clubbing scene, especially as club numbers dwindle and closures grow ever common. A dynamic response to the needs of clubbers is what we all need, anxious or otherwise.
