Honouring one of the greatest musicians to walk earth, the Axel Kaner-Lidstrom Quartet channels the spirit of Miles Davis' boundless style with faithful recreations of his most iconic works.
There are few musicians who have embarked on as many musical journeys as Miles Davis. After creating the most sold jazz album of all time in Kind of Blue, he set out to explore new fields and push new boundaries on every release, each consecutively unrecognisable.
And in trying to honour and recapture the work of the late legend, few try to faithfully reproduce note-for-note, or without a new spin, for it may fall just short of sacrilege, like a singer trying to do Marvin Gaye. In many ways, his work feels otherworldly, too special to be recreated by jazz mortals.
The Axel Kaner-Lidstrom Quartet tries to do just that. Questing through his many musical phases, the Quartet endeavours to pass the spirit of Davis to the audience, capturing his ceaseless creativity, passion, and power through recreation.
Miles Davis fans, or jazz fans in general, should seriously consider tickets.
