Spitalfields Music Festival is back from 1st – 9th July 2025. This year marks the 49th edition of the festival, which was originally conceived in 1976, for one single fundraising concert. Now, for over 40 years, Spitalfields Music has been putting music at the heart of East London, bringing artists, audiences and communities together so that everyone can find, explore and share extraordinary music in one of the most vibrant areas of London.

The 2025 line-up features thirteen premieres, and nine unique concerts that place boundary pushing new commissions alongside much loved classical repertoire. Performers include horn player Ben Goldscheider, cellist Raphael Wallfisch, composer and pianist Jonathan Dove, Violinist Aisha Orazbayeva electronic composer Peiman Khosravi, The Choir of the Chapels Royal, HM Tower of London, The Carice Singers and many more.

Programme highlights include:

The world premiere of a reimagining of Dylan Thomas’s seminal play, Under Milk Wood - this new piece of music for voices - Scenes from Under Milk Wood is composed by Ninfea Cruttwell-Reade.

Ben Goldscheider and pianist Richard Uttley present a concert that spans centuries and genres celebrating the past, present and future of the horn - from Beethoven’s Horn Sonata to the premieres of new works from Jonathan Dove and Brian Elias.

Composer and pianist Jonathan Dove returns to the festival to perform the world premiere of his latest composition Late Night Music.

Violinist Aisha Orazbayeva and Peiman Khosravi present new works for voice, violin and electronics alongside their own dark reimaginings of Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music.

The Choir of the Chapels Royal, HM Tower of London performs a Mass by leading composer of the late Renaissance Palestrina, and Messiaen’s Messe de la Pentecôte at the Tower of London.

From stories of medieval virgin martyrs to the contemporary #MeToo movement composer Litha Efthymiou blends music, movement, dance and storytelling in a performance exploring womanhood, strength, female identity, and emancipation.

A new interpretation of John Tavener’s Mercury Prize Nominated The Protecting Veil performed by legendary British cellist Raphael Wallfisch alongside musicians and dancers from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire.
