Relax the hustle and bustle of the city away at one of the best spas in London...

Feeling the need to unwind and pamper yourself a little but don't fancy leaving the city? An indulgent spa day could be exactly what the doctor ordered. Thankfully, London is filled with luxurious places to treat yourself so what better than to book yourself in for a self-care session (or hint it to your other half)? We've done the 'hard work' for you and scoured through London's spa scene to find you the top spots. Read on to discover more.

AIRE Ancient Baths

beraire.com

2-3 Robert St, London WC2N 6BH

Out with the old and in with the...older? If there's one nation from history that knew how to spa in style it was the Romans, Greeks and Ottomans, so it's no surprise that AIRE decided to take its guests back in time to the good ol' days. With stone walls, thousands of candles, orange blossom and bergamot-scented corridors with melodies gently dancing through the air, you are gracefully led to different bathing spaces and are transported into paradise. Best yet, it's centrally located, right under Covent Garden in fact, so you can pop in after work should you need to! No excursion necessary.

There are several baths to explore from the Tepidarium at a toasty 36 degrees to the Balneum with jets. There's also a chilly ice bath and Flotarium where you can finish off with a salt scrub. If you're feeling really darish, why not immerse yourself in a tub of red wine. The treatments are just as extravagant, with individualised massages available, awakening and soothing your five senses. They're all combined into 'experiences' to suit your preference and budget.

Prices start from approx £100 per person.

Whitehall Pl, London SW1A 2BD

One of the largest spas in London and located in the basement of the beautiful Corinthia hotel, just steps away from Trafalgar Square is the ESPA life spa. Situated on the mezzanine level of this five star establishment is a labyrinth of treatment rooms, steam rooms, saunas, thermal pools and relaxation areas (otherwise referred to as sleeping pods). ESPA is lavishly decorated, modern, low-lit and windowless, making time disappear in utmost relaxation.

You will be guided through the elegant reception that opens onto a cream-washed restaurant filled with leather furniture that is gently warmed by a fire. Downstairs, you find the main spa area presented with the Thermal Suite; a black-marbled oasis that boasts a steam room, jet pool, heated loungers, ice fountain, swimming pool and an awe-inducing glass-walled sauna ampitheatre.

Choose from your standard spa day and indulge in a number of luxurious treatments including body wrap packages, personalised massages, facials, acupuncture, herbalists and osteopathy. Once you're all spa'd out- you can have your locks looked after at the Daniel Galvin Hair Salon.

Take your experience home with you, with something from the in-spa range, from candles to a swimsuit. Whatever you decide, just know that peace is the priority here.
