Come back here every week for our Top 5 events for the week to avoid missing out on the best nights.

Cosmic Funk: Bring Your Own Vinyl - at Avalon Cafe Bermondsey | Thursday 28th September

Thursday 19:00 - 00:00 | Avalon Cafe Bermondsey - Unit D, Industrial Estate, Juno Way, SE14 5RW | Tickets from £5

We usually make ways for big listings on here, with recognisable artists from known promoters, but to see the real life of London that bubbles under the surface, it’s wise to seek to unknown.

Come watch some budding DJ’s mix on vinyl, just like the old days, for a wholesome funky night in Avalon Café in Bermondsey. You can even bring your own records and mix yourself!

Ross From Friends + Special Guests - at The Cause | Friday 29th September

Friday 22:00 - 05:00 | The Cause - 60 Dock Road, E16 1YZ | Tickets from £20

For some reason Percolate always seem to hold the maddest events. This time round, at the famous Cause, Ross From Friends is joining a whole host of other friends for a very special night.

Tickets are almost sold out for this all-nighter, for which I’m unsurprised; Ross From Friends has taken his branch of lo-fi house into the actual mainstream, and has come back to tell the story.

Marcel Dettmann - at Phonox | Friday 29th of September

Friday 21:30 - 04:00 | Phonox - 418 Brixton Road, Brixton, SW9 7AY | Tickets from £5

Berghain resident and techno legend Marcel Dettman takes over Phonox for the foreseeable, opening this Friday with a whole line-up of talent.

Phonox just said goodbye to Mala after his immense four weeks there on residency, and the vibes in Brixton aren’t slowing down.

Hunee (All Night Long) - at Phonox | Saturday 30th of September

Saturday 21:30 - 04:00 | Phonox - 418 Brixton Road, Brixton, SW9 7AY | Tickets from £20

Hunee’s back in town for another all night set (also at Phonox which seems to have everything going on recently), unmissable for fans of his sunny, retro Chicago house stylings, as well as for fans of the famous Phonox sound system of course.

Just bring your earplugs and don’t leave your drink unattended (they’ll chuck it).

The South London Soul Train - at Omeara | Saturday 30th September

Saturday 23:00 - 04:00 | Omeara - 6 O'Meara Street, SE1 1TE | Tickets from £10

Now here’s the big one. South London Soul Train’s are always the biggest listings of the week, always coming with the most exciting bands, the grooviest funk and soul, and on live instruments.

We all love a DJ set, but sometimes you need that brass refreshment. Headlining is Drymbago, a 10-piece afro-tropical-funk group once hailed by Fela Kuti’s late drummer Tony Allen. Come watch them cook!
